An Answered Prayer...

It was December 22nd, 2008. I looked in the mirror and saw a face that was completely shocked. In one hour I would have the opportunity to win the World Championship of Fantasy Football. I was filled with anticipation and excitement. It was something I thought about for the last 5 years and always in my heart believed I could do it. It was then that I said a prayer. I don't remember it word for word but I know how it went.

"Dear God, first and foremost thank you for this night and this opportunity. I pray that you keep Greg Jennings and Matt Forte healthy enough to compete tonight. All I ask is that they have a chance to play the whole game. If you find it in your Will to allow me to win The Title, I will donate 10% to my church. Please, I don't even want the money, I just want to be recognized as the best. Allow the best thing to happen for my well-being both spiritually and earthly. Not by my will, but your will be done. Amen."

Game time!!!!

Gone are the days of High Stakes Fantasy Football. My life was consumed by it to the point of looking forward to next Sunday for the 9 hour "fix" on the previous Monday night. It was a drug, an addiction, and a god. I have no doubt that had I won the title of World Champion a few years ago it would have consumed me to the point where I could not have turned back. I am thankful that I prayed to God that Monday Night that he allow the best outcome to happen for my own sake spiritually. You see, it wasn't the money that would have consumed me for it wasn't enough to change my lifestyle but the recognition would have destroyed the relationship with my Savior and I would never have gotten to a point in my life where living to praise Jesus was number 1 on my priority list.

My priorities in the past were...

1)Fantasy sports
2)Family/partner
3)Job
4)Christ

My perspective was foggy. I was very successful at what I did. I won a lot of games, leagues, money, and received the recognition. But it wasn't enough to satisfy my human nature. I was a very lost individual. I wasn't a good son, brother, nephew, uncle, friend, and partner. I would never compromise my fantasy sports for anything, including family. I scheduled everything around sports. I was certainly falling into a trap of the Devil's doing.

I have since reworked my priorities a bit in an effort to make them reflect

1)Christ
2)Family/partner
3)Job.

You see, this list is like a waterfall where Christ helps fuel the relationships and job. If he remains on top you will see improvements and fulfillment in the other parts of your life. In the past, my fantasy sports couldn't do that for me. It did validate however that when you are passionate about something and you dedicate your life to it, you can be successful.

So I feel if I am passionate about Christ and his perfect love for me, all areas of my life will be made more rewarding, meaningful, and complete.

It wasn't that God turned his back to me on December 22nd, 2008 when I finished 2nd in the WCOFF, it was that he remained in me and loved me enough to answer my prayer.

Week 16- The Journey is the Reward...

Well, we didn't win the $300,000 this year but I don't feel we were too far behind.

However, the sting of knowing someone else will take home the title of World Champion of Fantasy Football does not temper the excitement I had for this Sunday.

Danielle's team had quite a year and made it interesting in the early games when she put up a solid start. Her Main weapons soured in the late games however and she finished out of the running for a Top 20 finish. Her team did however take home the League #56 League Championship and the $5,500 first place prize.

Good Job Rae Rae's Revenge.

My Main Event team finished with a disappointing run in the Championship bracket not able to actually get the tires moving and it seemed as though we were spinning in place. I did capture a Regular season points title and 3rd place League #26 finish thus earning a trip to the dance. Only 113 other teams out of close to 1,000 had that honor. I am pleased with the job I did.

Not too Shabby Ray Ray's Revenge.

Here's where I am excited. If the WCOFF is the fantasy football equivalent of the World Series of Poker than I have received my first bracelet. Our auction team will be the 2010 1K Auction Division Champions!!!!

We took home the $5,000 first place prize and trophy that will be adorned in my office for Ryan Hemker to admire when he stops by. We also won our 3rd place league game for another $1,000. It was such a grind down the stretch but the quick start really aided us as I believe we pretty much led the whole contest from start to finish.

I thought I had a good idea of the auction format and it allowed me to get the guys "I" really wanted. In the end we went to battle with guys I thought were the best of the best. They ultimately proved me a reasonably smart guy. Our Auction team's total winnings for the year was $6,000.

The Invitational team still has a chance to play for another $5,500. If RB Michael Turner and RB Reggie Bush can score 36 pts we will advance to the championship for the Invitational league. It is exciting but we are considered a long shot to advance. Hopefully, the Falcons can get up early and it's because of Michael "the burner" Turner and Reggie Bush can contribute by catching passes out of the backfield.

I leave you with our Colt duo: Jacob Tamme and Blair White, who help put the hammer down to our Auction Division Championship.

So to recap our winnings so far

Ray Ray's Main Event- $1,750
Rae Rae's Revenge Main Event- $5,500
Ray Ray's Auction- $6,000
Ray Ray's Invitation- TBD

Total- $13,250

Week 15- You win some, you lose some.

Week 15 was not a good day, not a bad day. It was pretty average actually. A little bit disappointing for the most part as our Auction lost again to move our overall record in the contest to 7-8.

Pretty amazing when I think about it really.

We lost out on a chance to play for another $5,000. Now we play for $1,000 next week. If we lose we win zero from the league. Now, before you start to complain, our auction team has a 51 point lead on the second place team with one more week to play. That means if we can just hang on till next Monday we will take home the Auction Division Overall Championship and $5,000. So with a solid week we can still collect $6,000.

Our invitational league team won this week to advance to our league title game. With a win next week we would play for another $5,000 and a guaranteed $2,500. We assured ourselves to play for $500 next week.

My Main Event team had a letdown this week and is limping to the end. They have no earning potential left and will end the year earning a very disappointing $1750.

Danielle's team did what I thought they could do. She put up 188 pts to position herself to make a run at finishing in the top 20. With a good week next week she could net us another $1,000 along with the $5,000 league prize. Her WR's were the reason for her success as Vincent Jackson, Santana Moss, and Michael Jenkins combined to score 6 TD's. Couple that with Ray Rice's amazing 40 point effort and she stands as a contender for a money making finish. She currently is sitting in 34th place.

Am I glad we got that team.

I leave you with highlights of Ray Rice's incredible day for Rae Rae's Revenge.

Week 14- I Propose to WIN!!!!

As many or all of you know by now I proposed to my girlfriend of a year and a half Tara on Saturday. It went by the book as she was surprised(my goal). It was a spontaneous act on my part and threw her for a loop. Thanks for all the well wishes and congratulations the past few days and I look forward to many years of happiness.

Now on to football...

Unfortunately, Our Main Event teams didn't fair as well as I hoped. Danielle's team struggled at the WR corp again and I made a bone head move that cost us 8 points. RB Darren McFadden had the dream game and both our teams had him going. McFadden gave us the opportunity we needed but our WR's and other players couldn't get out of their own way. Danielle's team is pretty much eliminated and my team would need to put up near 200 pts next week to have a shot. Keep hope alive.

The Auction team now enters the playoffs as a wildcard team. We finished 3 full games behind Bloodshed3 but 400 pts ahead of him in total points. The best part is we lost to him last week and may possibly play him this week.

So after beating us, he will have to do it again this week when it matters most. Our team is not going to go down easy. A win next week guarantees another $2,500 with a shot at $5,000.

Overall, Ray Ray's Revenge has a 67 point cushion now for the overall $5,000 prize. With a couple good weeks we can take $10,000 more home. There are 3 other teams competing for the grand daddy. It will be a pins-and-needles 2 weeks.

We are in the playoffs!!! It wasn't that long ago I thought this team was dead in the water. A rejuvenated push from our star players got us rolling in with an awful lot of momentum. Next week hopefully we start to hit our stride and we can get on a 3 week roll and take home another $5,000.

I leave you with Run DMC capping off an great year for both Ray Ray's Revenge and Rae Rae's Revenge. We couldn't have won over $7,200 without him.

Well, we won't get to pick who we play next week but some interesting things came about. If the bank wins or Diversified loses we will enter the playoffs playing the 6th, 9th, and 11th highest point scoring teams. What does that mean? Nothing in the scheme of things, but maybe the guys that will have benifited most by head-to-head will suffer some bad fortune. We actually gained in our lead for the overall title by vurtue of our NE D/St outscoring WR Braylon Edwards. We now hold a tedius 42 point lead. If our guys can have a big week soon maybe we can distance ourselves from the rest for good and stake claim to that $5,000.

The invitational team is a win or a loss by KFFSC from making the playoffs. Also, If we lose and he wins, as long as we don't get outscored by 28 pts were in the playoffs.

Danielle and I will both be in the Championship bracket for 300,000. We have a tough road ahead and are well behind in the standings but a 200 point week would vault us towards the front. Here are our likely rosters....

Robb's Team

QB-Matt Ryan Atl
RB-Arian Foster Hou
RB-Darren McFadden Oak
RB-LaDainian Tomlinson NYJ
WR-Anquan Boldin Balt
WR-Roddy White Atl
WR-Danny Amendola STL
TE-Jacob Tamme Ind
K-Garrett Hartley NO
D/ST-Indianapolis

Danielle's Team

QB-Eli Manning/May choose Matt Ryan depending on how I feel Sunday.
RB-Arian Foster Hou
RB-Darren McFadden Oak
RB-Ray Rice Bal
WR-Michael Crabtree SF
WR-Danny Amendola Stl
WR-Santana Moss Was
TE-Tony Moeaki/ May choose A. Fasano
K-Matt Prater Den
D/ST-Baltimore

We need to put up an average of 180-200 to win this thing. Anything less than that won't get it done. We can do it, but the guys need to play very well.

Week 13- We are the Champions!!!!

Ray Ray's Revenge-Main Event team-

My team had an ok day and find ourselves up 112.25- 75.6. He has WR Wes Welker and K Nick Folk. We have RB LaDainian Tomlinson and K Shayne Graham. So, barring an act of God we will take home the $500 dollar 3rd place prize. With a solid day from our pair of guys we will also qualify for the $300,000 round. Hopefully we make it in, it will be close.

Rae Rae's Revenge- Main Event team

With a tremendous fantasy defense by yours truly, we escaped our match-up with a thrilling 106-89 victory. We took home the $5,500 league prize that comes along with that. It wasn't pretty but who cares, we grinded out the whole year. Danielle got terrific effort out of RB's Arian Foster and Darren McFadden. McFadden clinched it late with a 7 yard TD run. I love you guys.

Ray Ray's Revenge- 1K Auction League

We are slowly slipping down as we near the playoffs. We scored 106.4 with the New England D left so we could use a good day from them. We will make the playoffs in our league but our lead for the overall title is now 38 pts and the guy were playing has WR Braylon Edwards left. We need WR Hakeem Nicks back and finish strong. It will be extremely close so I need to focus on getting us that $5,000 bonus.

Ray Ray's Revenge- Invitational team

Our invitational team are currently leading 121.05 to 77.55. He has RB Benjarvis Green Ellis, WR Santonio Holmes, TE Aaron Hernandez left and we have the NE D/St. We should hang on and will have a 1 game lead in the division with one game left. The tie breaker is points scored and we currently lead him by 68 pts. So if we put up an ok score next week we should qualify for the playoffs. This team is really clicking now.

Breakdown of winnings so far-

I am trying to qualify for the big money round tonight, Danielle is already in.

Auction team is still leading the overall contest for $5,000. They are also going to be competing for $5,000 in two weeks for the league awards.

Week 13- Championship Weekend

Rae Rae's Revenge comes into the Championship with a little momentum. Their match-up this week is really, really close. I don't see it being one sided one way or the other. We have better match-ups on paper in regards to some positions and they have an edge on others. It will be a grind it out affair and RB Arian Foster gets to set the tone for us tonight.

QB's- Matt Schaub vs Eli Manning/Matt Ryan

I am hoping that Schaub doesn't have a stellar night tonight. He has the ability to put up healthy numbers against anyone at any given time. I haven't made my decision on Matt Ryan or Eli quite yet. Eli has a better match-up but no weapons. Ryan has an ok match-up but they are a power running team. I am leaning towards Eli because he plays at home. Nothing set in stone though.

Advantage- Push

RB's- Mike Goodson/Anthony Dixon vs Ray Rice/Arian Foster/Darren McFadden

On paper it looks like we have a big advantage, but our match-ups scare me a bit. The thing that helps our team is our RB's are great pass catchers. So if the game goes sour from a score standpoint, they can still score points. Goodson has been great the last few weeks and has a nice match-up on paper. If he has a good game it may spell the end to this magical run.

Advantage- Rae Rae's Revenge

WR's- Jeremy Maclin, Mike Thomas, Mario Manningham, Brandon Marshall vs Michael Crabtree, Danny Amendola, Santana Moss

His WR's are dangerous. Very explosive and have plus match-ups. Expect to be on pins and needles tonight in regards to Maclin. A terrific talent capable of big games. Manningham has a good match-up and the only guy there.
Our WR's scare me. They could be the reason why we lose. He could decide to play Marshall as his Flex too this week.

Advantage- Polish Shamrocks

TE's- Jacob Tamme, Chris Cooley vs Tony Moeaki

Another bad match-up for us. Tamme is the best fantasy TE in football right now and Cooley is steady. He may put in WR Marshall in for Cooley but I have a feeling he rolls with Cooley.
Moeaki has to be more involved than last week. Losing Hoomananawanui really hurts us because he was a big part of the Ram offense. This is a dangerous situation that also could prove hurtful.

Advantage- Polish Shamrocks

K's- Janikowski vs Josh Brown

Our match-up on paper is a little better

Advantage- Rae Rae's Revenge

D/ST- New Orleans vs Baltimore

Another tight match-up. His a little better.

Advantage- Polish Shamrocks

Prediction-All in all a nerve racking week of football. I say we win 128-125. Go get em boys.
